  • Relevance to current and anticipated university needs
  • Relation to current collection and other materials on the subject
  • Reputation and qualifications of the author and/or publisher
  • Cost

Donations are accepted to enhance the Library’s collection. Consideration of gifts is based on the same criteria used to evaluate new books for prospective purchase. Therefore, gifts deserve and should receive the same care and processing as other materials with the stipulation that they may be discarded, reevaluated for possible shipment to the regional jail (partnership) or do not enhance the Library’s collection. The library determines the disposition of donations. The library does not appraise materials and therefore will give receipts only for the number of items received and not their value.
