This research guide serves as a starting point for students, faculty, and staff who are considering using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic or professional tasks. It is not intended to be comprehensive, but contains information about how Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) works and considerations for choosing and using an AI tool, as well as selected resources in the NSU Library and links to materials that are available elsewhere.
AI is a constantly changing technology, and new AI models are released on a daily basis. Materials in this guide are aimed at building a basic understanding of the technology, but this information is not static. Changes in policy, training data, or functionality can significantly affect a GenAI's performance with little warning. Please keep the ever-changing nature of this technology in mind as you use these resources to build an understanding of current and past landscapes in AI and to develop skills and critical lenses when selecting and utilizing AI tools.
