PED 170: Introduction to Physical Education

This course guide accompanies the in-person library instruction for PED 170 and serves as a reference point for topics and resources described in the class.

InterLibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan?
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a retrieval service in which the Library will borrow articles, books, etc. for you from other libraries that are not owned in print or online by the NSU Library.

*Please note that Interlibrary Loan cannot be used to request textbooks for courses.

How long will it take to get the material?

The turnaround time depends on the type of request (article or an entire book) and where it is requested from. Some library systems are quicker than others.

Questions?

If you have any questions about the ILL system, please contact the ILL Department by email at interlibraryloan@nsu.edu.

Request Materials from Another Library

To request materials not owned by NSU

Click here to sign in to your library account using your full NSU email and your NSU password.

Click on the My account dropdown menu, located in the upper right of your screen, and then select Requests.

Click on the Create request button.

Select the tab that best represents what you are requesting - if you are unsure if it is an article or a book, choose "other".

Fill in as much information as you know about the material as it will assist the librarian in locating it.

Fields marked with * must be completed.

In the About my request section you will need to choose your service type. Generally, if you are requesting an article or single chapter of a book, you'll want a copy. If you need a whole journal or book, choose loan. If you request a physical loan or copy, it will be available for pick up at the Information Desk of the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library on the NSU campus. Digital materials will be delivered to your library account.

Needed before refers to the date by which you must have the item. You will be contacted if the librarian is unable to meet this deadline.

Double check the information in the My address and contact information. If the librarian needs to contact you, they will use this information to do so.

Finally, click on the Submit request button. You will be returned to the main page where your request will now be visible.

Under the Status column, you can see where your request is in the process.

If you decide you no longer need the item, you can cancel it by clicking on the Request details link and then click on the Cancel request button.

It will ask you to confirm this cancellation.

If you cancelled in error, you can click on the Request again button.

Once the material is available, the status column will contain a link to the materials.

If you have any questions or concerns about your request, please contact the ILL Department by email at: interlibraryloan@nsu.edu.
