Supporting Your Research with Scholarly Resources

After you have selected your topic and performed some background research using reference materials, you will need to locate scholarly resources to support your writing.

Scholarly resources (also known as peer-reviewed or refereed) are those that are written by experts in the field, are published in reputable publishers/journals, include citations and works cited lists, and are reviewed by other experts in the field before publication to confirm the accuracy and authority of the work. These documents are a key component of research writing and are often required by your professors.

The Lyman Beecher Brooks Library offers a wide variety of scholarly materials in print and online. On the next page "Selected NSU Databases", you will find a list of databases that are selected to complement this course and were reviewed during the in person library instruction session.

There are hundreds of additional databases in the NSU collection, A-Z Database List, as you follow your research journey, you may find that additional databases that are better aligned with your project. If you have any questions or need any additional assistance locating more resources, please contact the library!
