Welcome to Spring Semester, Spartans!

While you were away, the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library has been busy with setting up new features for the library's online catalog and training on updates that were made to our databases. Take a look at the summaries below to learn about these changes:

New Feature - LibKey added to WorldCat Discovery

  • LibKey is a new scholarly article delivery service that has been added to the library's online catalog, WorldCat Discovery.
  • When running a search in WorldCat Discovery, you will now have the option to directly access articles in PDF format from the search results page without having to visit the database where the PDF is located. Simply click the "View PDF"/"View full text" button to retrieve the document or make a selection from the provided links to view the article in a library database.

  • LibKey also provides several additional benefits:
    • Retracted Article Notifications: LibKey will flag articles so that researchers are aware of retractions and also provides resources for learning about why the article was retracted.
    • LibKey.io Search: Use this tool to lookup and access PDFs for articles when you already have the DOI/PMID. For example: if you are searching for articles cited in another resource, simply copy and paste the DOI into the LibKey.io Search and it will provide you with the full-text PDF if the article is available through the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library.

Updated User Interface - EBSCOhost Databases

  • The Lyman Beecher Brooks Library has over 100 databases included in the EBSCOhost platform. These include popular resources such as Academic Search Complete, APA PsycArticles, eBook Academic Collection (EBSCOhost), Education Research Complete, and SocINDEX with Full Text. The user interface for the entire platform has been updated across all EBSCOhost databases. This new interface has been designed to enhance usability, improve accessibility, and provide an improved research experience.
